The most popular book--Facebook
It is hard to find a person who doesn't got Facebook in the society nowadays. Even Facebook is developed for several years only, it's now accounting a great proportion of people's life. People visit the "home" on the right up corner of Facebook is more even than the "home" they actually live in(And I am one of them for sure). And I think Facebook has evolved from just a social network for friendship, to now a promotional platform for business activities or political issue.
At the end of the lesson in week 7, Rodney has brought out a interesting fact and a reflecting question to us. He said when we started using Facebook, all our personal information is agreed to give to Facebook for their use in any purpose. And then he asked us whether it is our big concern about our privacy or not. In my opinion, I think it's alright for Facebook to have this authority as there is no free lunch in the world. If it can't make money, then it will be closed and we cannot use Facebook such a convenient thing. Furthermore, we have the choice to input what information we want, but not forced by Facebook, therefore I think we can still protect our privacy if we are careful enough.

Juno, I really like your saying that there is no free lunch on Earth! They have to make money in order to keep facebook operating! We choose to use facebook ourselves but not being forced to. It is also our choice and responsibility to consider what kind of personal information to be entered on facebook.

Before reading your sharing, I really think that it was the fault of Facebook who sell our personal information to different advertisers for money. I have never thought of the consequences
回覆刪除if Facebook can't make money. And thanks Juno remains me that we should not take everything for granted ever for a social media site like Facebook. We should understand that we can no loner enjoy the convenience and joyfulness bought by Facebook if it can't make money.
I have read an article that apps can get access to our friends when we agreed to use certain apps. Have you come across times when you are playing some games and an ad pop up to ask you to invite 3 friends (with name and profile pic) who is not playing the game to play the game? And we do not know how much information is given to the apps. What is your view on this?
回覆刪除In my opinion, I don't think Facebook will release that much of someone's information, because we can set our information as private. Not like Weibo, people need to be your friend before they can really see your information. Comparing this to weibo, I think Facebook's privacy is already better.
