Nowadays, many companies use technology not only for their work, but also for management in the workplace. Besides web-monitoring used by boss to his subordinates, there are more and more companies using social media for communication within the workplace. That may be a website that allows personal conversation, document transfer, or even an online conference for the use of workers.
With this technology, workers can work for a whole day without meeting their colleagues. It may increase the efficiency but damage the relationship between workers in the same company as their interaction is greatly reduced. Even they may have communication online, but they may not able to know each other deeply without meeting each other. In my opinion, relationship between workers in the same workplace is more important than their personal ability. If they can cooperate well, I believe that outcome of job will be much better than an individual work. As technology is somehow destroying the relationships between workers, I don't suggest putting too much of it into workplace.
It’s true that technology is somehow destroying the relationships between workers which I consider as a constraint of technology. But everything has two sides. Perhaps with social media site like Facebook or some company intranet which allow more communication and understanding between colleagues, the overall working efficiency as well as relationships could be improved.
回覆刪除haha aimee, it's true but Facebook distracts us easily if it is allowed to be accessed during working hours. And indeed, face to face communication is as important as communicating usings different online media.
回覆刪除Yet, technology is inevitable in workplace nowadays just that we need to strike a balance between technology and our real lives.
I can't imagine doing society work with you between the social media.... haha.... but nowadays, many students so their project just in front of the computer without an actual having a meeting face to face. luckily we have other interactions in schools or the relationship between students will be very poor too...
